I visited Malacca(Melaka) in Oct. 2017 and I could feel some countries’ ambiance such as Portugal, Netherlands and China. It’s a really interesting city. You should try the historic site of the Malacca Straits.
I would like to introduce mainly on how to get to Malacca from Kuala Lumpur Airport terminal 1 (KLIA).
目次
KLIA bus terminal
After you pick up your luggage at the airport, head towards the exit.
Then, you will find a large information board in front of you. This is the arrival hall, 3rd floor.
When facing the board, turn right and go down the escalator leading towards the 2nd floor.
There will be an information board where you can see an arrow which is hung on the ceiling that points to the bus terminal and then, cross to the opposite side.
When you go down the escalator to the 1st floor and turn around, you will see the waiting area for the bus.
Ticket counter and to Malacca
There are some ticket counters at the back left corner. You can buy the ticket to Malacca at the left-most counter with red papers.
The price for the ticket was 35RM, that’s about $10. You need to show your passport here.
You can see the time schedule on the window of the counter. These were schedules on the counter’s window glass.
- (AM) 6:30, 7:45, 8:45, 10:30, 10:45, 11:45
- (PM) 2:00, 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10:30, 11:45
The bus will leave at the 5th bus stop just beside the ticket counter.
It has big seats and the temperature was just right, so I think you can relax in it.
You will get to the bus terminal of Malacca called “Melaka Sentral” in about 2 hours non-stop.
I went to the hotel from here using the app, “UBER”. Off course, you can get to your final destination using other vehicles like taxi, bus and Grab.
Next day, I went for a walk slowly in the beautiful historic city for about 2 hours before I check out my hotel.
Such as Jonker Walk, Dutch Square, Chinatown and St.Francis Xavier’s Church.
There were two things that I find quite surprising. First, at St.Francis Xavier’s Church, I found a stone statue of Japanese “Yajirou”. Another thing is that Dutch Square is a melting pot. It has so many people coming from the different corners of the globe.
I also went to Mallacca Straits Mosque that looks like it’s floating on the water using “UBER”.
Since it is said that this Mosque has the most beautiful view during twilight, you should go to see it around that time.
You can see the unique townscape in Malacca that is classified as a World Heritage Site.
From “Melaka Sentral” to the airport
Without entering the Melaka Sentral building, go to the left side along it.
When you are at the 20th bus stop, look at the building. You can find the ticket counters in it and buy the ticket at counter 4A.
These were the time schedule to the Airport.
- (AM)5:15, 8:00, 10:00
- (PM)12:00, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 4:30, 7:30, 9:30, 11:30
If you have a lot of time untill your bus leaves, you can kill time in the building that has gift shops and small restaurants.
When I took the bus, it stopped at a gas station for about 10 minutes. Short break. First, you will get to the bus terminal of KLIA2. After that, get to KLIA.
Have fun in Mallaca !
